Howdy, Y'all!

It's no secret that major book publishers tend to congregate in America's largest cities.  Thus, the books selected for publishing and reviews surrounding them tend to reflect the urban culture of the publishers.  I started Southerners Read, Too with the goal of offering a different perspective on today's literature-- one of the rural or small-city reader.  There's lots of us, but our voices rarely get heard.

My name is Mary, and I'm a military spouse.  I am originally from Oklahoma, but I have also lived in Michigan, Ohio, Texas, Massachusetts, Washington, D.C., Colorado, Kansas, and, currently, Tokyo, Japan.  Despite living in some of the biggest cities in the world, I will always be an Oklahoma girl at heart.  I'm best known for my obsession with book clubs, regularly attending and recruiting members for three of them here on our military base.

Take some time to explore the blog and listen to the thoughts of someone from flyover country.  We'll pour you a cold drink and save you spot on the porch swing.  Read on and enjoy!
